Can I swim immediately after I get my piercing done? Is chlorine bad for a newly pierced navel? Can I swim in the ocean?

No! You should NOT swim until pierced navel is fully healed. I should say this can take 6 month up to 1 year or more. But if you do swim make sure you rinse it really well immediately after getting out. And do NOT get sand in it.

Some people say that they swim with new piercings and they and pierced navel feel fine, but you should keep in mind that pools do have a lot of bacteria. Just because others did not get an infection doesn’t mean you won’t, and vice versa.

Check out signs of infection:
• rust or green colored pus
• extreme pain/tenderness
• a really awful stench


If you have something like that people say that beth with ocean salt helps. But you should better consult with a doctor!

Chlorine is useful you need to clean up the wound after water. But do not use it much!
